Firstly I’m going to start with saying I’m not a huge Apple fan, I haven’t owned a single Apple product since the first generation iPod Touch was launched. But this doesn’t stop me keeping one eye on what Apple are up to.
Their latest phones, the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are of course some of the hottest phones on the market right now, especially the iPhone 11 which at $699/£729/€829 is priced incredibly well as a replacement for the iPhone X (10) R (Thankfully the iPhone 11 isn’t called the XI). However, Apple is making these phones all about the cameras, and personally if that’s all there is to sell I don’t think these phones are worth purchasing if you’re prepared to wait another year.
The iPhone 12 is expected to be a much bigger step from what the current and previous range offers, we expect to see features that I can’t believe Apple skipped on with the iPhone 11, like reverse wireless charging, a higher refresh rate display, which if you’ve ever used a 90hz or 120hz screen you’ll know how much nicer and smoother they are, 5G and possibly ditching the Lightning Port for a more universally friendly USB C. And of course the cameras will be even better by then too.
If you can afford to drop the money on one of the 11s this year and then again for the 12, go right ahead, but if you’re not sure, and you’re humming and hawing about it, then I think you should definitely wait for the 12, even just to prove me wrong.
